Sphere Spaces

Environments that invite learning

At Sphere, the space educates too.

The school was designed to offer environments specially prepared for different learning experiences: spaces for creation, investigation, movement, reading, art, music, technology and collaboration, which can be transformed according to the needs of each activity.

At the same time, nature is not just around the school. It runs through everyday life and is part of the experience of learning.

Gardens, trees, green areas and outdoor spaces become an extension of the classroom and broaden the opportunities to observe, explore, raise questions, investigate phenomena and build connections with the natural world.

About Sphere

A school designed to develop, inspire and expand possibilities.

Sphere International School Granja Viana was founded in 2023 with a clear purpose: to offer an education that recognises each student’s individuality and creates the conditions for their full development.

Today, Sphere has two campuses — Esfera and 14 Bis — which together cover 19,000 m², set amid plenty of greenery and with facilities prepared to support students from Early Childhood through to Middle School.

At Sphere, every student is known, respected and valued. This closeness helps to build an environment of safety and trust, in which children and young people find room to experiment, take part, question, learn and grow.

The name

Sphere comes from sphaera. A sphere, a globe, the Earth itself.

The name reflects a way of educating. Circular movements that bring people and cultures closer, with references that reach beyond any border.

Our logo carries that idea. In motion, it reminds us that good actions multiply around the world and that a school is made of the people who belong to it.

Mission statement

Sphere aims at contributing to the development of critical and knowledgeable learners, who are able to use their diverse languages to interact with others collaboratively and with mobility to navigate national and international contexts. To this end, we offer quality bilingual education, with academic rigor and a focus on the development of intercultural understanding, enabling continuous advances in the ability to create solutions for different everyday situations and for the benefit of all.

Values

  1. Learning to learnLife-long learning, with a focus on intellectual, physical, social and emotional development.
  2. HumanityEthics, respect and honesty in relationships.
  3. CollectivityCollaboration, solidarity and teamwork.

How we learn at Sphere

The student at the centre of learning

At Sphere, learning is an active experience. Students are not just recipients of information: they are the ones who investigate, question, experiment, make choices, draw connections and build knowledge.

That is why our practice places students at the centre of the learning process, respecting their individuality and creating situations in which they can take part in increasingly autonomous and meaningful ways.

Learning by doing, investigating to understand

Our approach values experience-based learning, in which knowledge and skills are brought into play through questions, challenges and situations that invite investigation.

By acting on the object of knowledge — handling it, testing hypotheses, researching, creating, comparing, recording and sharing discoveries — students turn experience into learning. Knowledge is no longer something that is simply received; it becomes something that is built, tested and revisited, and that takes on meaning.

Projects and investigations broaden the possibilities for connecting different fields of knowledge, bringing what is learned at school closer to real-world issues, phenomena and situations.

Learning that becomes visible

Learning is a process. That is why, at Sphere, we value not only the result but also the paths students take.

Questions, hypotheses, records, pieces of work, prototypes, discoveries, revisions and different forms of expression make the learning process visible. In this way, students, teachers and families can follow the development of knowledge, skills and strategies over time.

Making learning visible also means helping students themselves to recognise how they learn, what they already know, what they still need to develop and which paths they can choose to move forward.

Learning in many spaces, in many ways

At Sphere, we believe there is not just one place, one language or one way to learn.

We learn by investigating. We learn by doing. We learn from others. We learn from nature. We learn when we can turn questions into discoveries.

It is this combination of a student-centred educational approach, project-based learning experiences, active engagement with knowledge and carefully prepared environments that creates an educational experience in which learning takes on meaning, and in which it can be seen, followed and continually expanded.

Our journey

A new school in a place with history.

Founded in 2004 in São José dos Campos, Sphere has built a track record in bilingual and international education. In 2023, that experience and its educational concepts gave rise to Sphere Granja Viana.

Set on the same site that was once home to Projeto Âncora, the school preserved its gardens, trees and the essence of its spaces, beginning a new chapter of learning in a place shaped by education.

Our story

  1. 2004

The beginning in São José dos Campos

Sphere São José dos Campos is founded, the source of the experience and educational concepts that would later inspire the Granja Viana school.

  2. The site

    Projeto Âncora

The site that is now home to Sphere Granja Viana was once home to Projeto Âncora, a place of community and learning that left its mark on the lives of many children and young people.

  3. 2023

    Sphere Granja Viana

Drawing on the experience and concepts of Sphere São José dos Campos, Sphere Granja Viana is born and is introduced to the local community in September.

  4. 2024

    First classes

Classes begin, welcoming children aged 2 to 8, from Toddlers to Year 3.

  5. Today

    Two campuses

On the Esfera and 14 Bis campuses, Sphere Granja Viana serves students from Early Childhood to Middle School.
